Milling and Grinding with CEREC The CEREC milling units

For best results

The CEREC milling and grinding unit and CEREC software are optimally synchronized with one another. Grinding or milling your restoration design is extremely precise, giving the restorations smooth surfaces. Even very fine fissures are very precisely prepared and the edges are very even. Our new milling and grinding units can also dry mill, making solid zirconia restorations in a single visit possible!

Benefits

  • Fast and precise fabrication of various materials

  • Possibility to produce patient-individual surgical guides and abutments/screw-retained crowns

Treatment often used to take a long time. With CEREC, I got a complete crown in just one visit – without a temporary or follow-up visits. I call that service!

Meike Tramitz, patient from Gießen

NEW! Our new milling and grinding units can also dry mill, making full contour zirconia restorations possible in a single visit!

Outstanding restorations now also with full contour zirconia

The new CEREC milling and grinding machines come equipped with a device to vacuum up the mill shavings, as well as new precision tools. The new machine can be used for both wet and dry processing, one straight after the other. Dry milling saves a considerable amount of time, as the restoration does not need to be dried before sintering – thus enabling the chairside procedure. There is no difference in quality between dry and wet milling processes. The dry dust can easily be removed using a short, integrated cleaning program.

The advantages of CEREC milling and grinding units

Three different milling units are tailored to address specific individual requirements. All three CEREC milling and grinding units grind or mill precise restorations in a few minutes with a precision of 25 μm.

CEREC MC

Whether inlays, onlays, crowns or veneers – you can create full-contour individual tooth restorations with block sizes of up to 20 mm. You will be able to work with the majority of chairside materials. With CEREC MC, you can achieve 100% precise results at an appealing price.

Advantages of CEREC MC
  • Fully anatomical, individual tooth restoration with a block size of up to 20 mm
  • High precision
  • Perfect for CAD/CAM beginners

CEREC MC X

In addition to inlays, onlays, crowns, and veneers, with CEREC MC X you can also grind bridges, abutments, and surgical guides. You also have the option of practice laboratory indications at any time. The CEREC MC X grinds precisely and quickly.

Advantages of CEREC MC X
  • Entire range of chairside treatment with up to 40 mm block size, incl. bridges and abutments
  • Precise and quick
  • CEREC Guide 2 surgical guide

CEREC MC XL Practice Lab

In addition to inlays, onlays, veneers, crowns, bridges, abutments, and surgical guides, you can grind all practice laboratory indications with the CEREC MC XL Practice Lab. You will be able to use all CAD/CAM materials (plastic, ceramic, and metal). Benefit from comfortable four grinding motors, the optional “extra-fine” grinding, and a user-friendly touch display.

Advantages of CEREC MC XL Practice Lab
  • Complete chairside and labside spectrum for block sizes of up to 85 mm
  • Grind/mill all CEREC & CEREC Practice Lab indications and materials
  • Precise and quick

Frequently asked questions about milling and grinding with CEREC

I have a practice laboratory. Would I benefit from CEREC?

With the CEREC system, you bring laboratory services directly to your practice, however, this does not replace the dental laboratory. The CEREC grinding and milling unit can be an ideal addition to your dental laboratory as you can manufacture your restorations with the CEREC system in just a single visit.

The practice laboratory allows you to use CEREC even more intensively and cover a wider range of indications such as manufacturing bridge structures that are veneered and producing telescopes, bars and attachments. All CAD/CAM materials, including NPM, can also be used.

Can existing CEREC milling units be upgraded to process CEREC full-contour zirconia?

The CEREC grinding and milling units have been further developed for CEREC Zirconia. The production units now also have a dry milling function for producing solid zirconium oxide restorations. Special instruments and a suction device are required for milling full contour zirconia. Newer grinding and milling units can be upgraded. Chairside full contour zirconia restorations can also be produced with wet milling. However, the process is then longer due to “drying” process.

The final restoration in just a few steps

  1. Spare your patients the discomfort of a conventional impression tray. Use the CEREC Omnicam, our small powder-free color camera, for precise 3D images in natural color. New: Use the Open Scan Export to easily export your scanned cases as STL files.

  2. After analyzing the complete scan, the CEREC software generates outstanding restoration proposals. This takes you to the production stage faster. You benefit from the simple and visually appealing user interface.

  3. Step 3: Produce

The CEREC grinding and milling unit and CEREC software are optimally matched. Milling or grinding a ceramic (or solid zirconia) restoration design is extremely precise, giving the restorations smooth surfaces and edges and very fine fissures.

  4. Full-contour zirconia restorations are sintered and glazed chairside in the compact CEREC SpeedFire. The induction technology allows unparalleled short sintering and firing times.
